Joy Martini
Joy Martini is a seasoned professional with more than 25 years’ experience in the communications and marketing field. After a successful career as a senior in-house marketing professional, in 2006, Joy launched Martini Consulting to respond to the increasing demand for skilled consultants with proven track records driving revenue and developing rockstars.
Joy brings to her clients a practical and creative perspective — and an inspiring energy — having served as the Director of Marketing for two mid-sized firms and as the US Chief Marketing Officer for one of the world’s largest law firms. Joy also spent years in the not-for-profit world, serving as the Director of Communications for the New York Road Runners/NYC Marathon and, previously, as the Director of Administration for the Jewish Council for Public Affairs.
These days, she devotes most of her time to communications strategy, with a passionate focus on both writing instruction and authoring compelling content.
A former board member of the Metropolitan New York Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association, Joy is a frequent author and speaker on a broad range of professional and personal matters. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, the New York Law Journal, Connecticut Law Tribune, and lawmarketing.com. As a ghost writer and copywriter, her work is prolific and sophisticated. She has authored a broad range of materials, including: op-eds in prominent mainstream press including the New York Times and the Washington Post; book pitches and introductions; dozens of bylined articles; countless high-level speeches; full website content; and creative campaigns for numerous events.
As a teacher, she is patient, kind, disciplined and — most important — fun. Her experience spans decades of instruction on behalf of business professionals and individuals across the nation. She is as competent guiding a teenager through the finer points of critical work and college admissions essays as she is tutoring a commercial titan on how to craft engaging executive communications. In her mind, the art of expression is less about content than it is freedom and fire.
She received her Master’s Degree in writing from Columbia University and her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Connecticut.
A diehard foodie, impossibly slow long distance runner, a riveting shower soprano, breast cancer survivor and a really proud mama, Joy is truly masterful at raising horribly behaved rescue animals.
